Trimmer Line Information
Not all trimmer line is created equal. Most professional landscapers have had different experiences with the performance of trimmer line. The two most common complaints about trimmer line is fraying and welding. Luckily, J.Thomas offers two great selections of professional trimmer line.
Fraying (Diagram shown below)
Fraying happens when a trimmer line has low impact resistance (i.e. low level of flexibility in the line). Low impact resistant line causes it to fray at the tip, which reduces the effectiveness of the line.

Welding (Diagram shown below)
Welding is caused by a low temperature polymer within the trimmer line. This low-temp polymer trimmer line allows the line to actually melt with the trimmer head causing the line to "weld" together. When this occurs, the operator must physically break the weld.

J.Thomas offers the following two selections of professional trimmer line:
Super Premium Trimmer Line
This is a commercial grade trimmer line comparable with the original equipment manufacturer's line. This line offers an excellent value when cost is a consideration while purchasing trimmer line.
Optimum Trimmer Line
J.Thomas is proud to offer "Optimum Trim Line" (commercial use only). After years of research, we have developed a line which meets the expectations of the professional landscapers. This line was designed to eliminate two of the most common complaints with trimmer line: fraying at the end of the line and welding (line melting onto itself).
J.Thomas's "Optimum Trim Line" with its unique co-polymer mixture, prevents fraying and welding. Our "Optimum Trim Line" has a mixture of two special polymer formulas which retains the moisture in the line, helping to keep the line flexible. This provides for the greatest impact resistant line available. Reduced fraying will result in less line usage and provide for a cleaner and crisper cut of the turf. Also, the unique co-polymer mixture has a higher melting point to eliminate welding in the head.
Our "Optimum Trim Line" will reduce your downtime because the line will not weld in your trimmer's head nor will it fray at the end. This will allow for a smoother operation of manual, bump, and feed trimmer heads.
